About Me

I am an open minded intellectual with eclectic interests. I enjoy watching movies. My favorite genres are action and comedy; Quentin Tarantino directs most of my all time favorite films. In addition to watching movies, I love traveling, trying new foods, exploring new things, playing guitar, drawing, going to art shows, performing at open mics, and spending quality time with family and friends. In my spare time, I also volunteer at my local youth center teaching children, aged 10-18, the basics of computer hardware. This allows me to better retain the information I’ve learned, while also educating the youth in my community. This is important to me because I recognize that there is a disparity of educational programs on the south side of Chicago, and I feel compelled to bridge the gap of opportunity for those who are less fortunate than me in whatever way I can.

My goal has always been to enter a career that plays on the strengths of the interpersonal skills I’ve gained through my hobbies, while still continuously challenging me and expediting my personal growth. Once I obtain my CompTIA A+ certification, I hope to utilize my skills in front-end web development and continue to sharpen them through further training. After successfully completing the Year Up program and acquiring the CompTIA A+ certification, I have plans to continue expanding my education in front-end web development by acquiring a Nanodegree through Udacity. I also aim to incorporate my knowledge on visual art into my career practices. My artistic background coupled with my proficient knowledge on front-end web development gives me the unique perspective that other professionals may not have the advantage of. After completing these two certifications, I plan to obtain my associates degree and then continue my education at a 4-year University. I will remain persistent in reaching my professional and personal goals so that I’m equipped with essential skills to provide quality services.
